Full details

Turkey's Decree No. 32 on Protection of Turkish Lira requires declaration of cash equivalent to USD 25,000 or more on arrival or departure. Foreign currency under USD 25,000 enters without declaration. Outbound passengers may not export Turkish lira above TRY 25,000 equivalent without prior Central Bank authorisation. Customs agents at Istanbul Airport routinely ask traveling passengers about cash carriage.

TRANSIT EXCEPTION

Permitted in transit. Turkey's cash declaration rules apply to persons entering Turkish territory (EUR 5,000 / USD 5,000 reporting threshold for international travellers).
