Egyptian travelers may import or export up to USD 10,000 (or foreign currency equivalent) without declaration; amounts above must be declared to Customs Authority on Form CA-1. Egyptian pound exports are restricted to EGP 5,000 per person per trip; non-residents may not export EGP at all without Central Bank of Egypt authorisation. Undeclared amounts are seized; Penalty under Anti-Money Laundering Law 80/2002 includes 1-year imprisonment and 100% confiscation.

Leaving Egypt with cash / currency
Under Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) regulations and Customs Law, Egyptian pounds (EGP) export is capped at EGP 5,000 per traveller. Foreign currency may be exported up to the amount declared on arrival (maximum USD 10,000 cash without supplementary bank documentation). Amounts above USD 10,000 require CBE authorisation and proof of import or bank purchase receipt. Penalties: fines under Law 88/2003 (Central Bank and Banking Sector Law) and customs violation fines.
