Indonesia requires declaration of cash or monetary instruments worth IDR 100,000,000 or more (about USD 6,500 at 2026 exchange) entering or leaving the country, on the BC 3.0 Customs Declaration Form. Undeclared amounts are subject to administrative fine of 10% of the declared amount or IDR 300,000,000 maximum, and may be seized under the Anti-Money-Laundering Law (UU 8/2010). Bank Indonesia tracks foreign-currency transfers in parallel.

Leaving Indonesia with cash / currency

RESTRICTEDIndonesia requires declaration of cash above IDR 100 million (≈USD 6,500) on departure. Rupiah (IDR) export is capped at IDR 100 million without Bank Indonesia approval.

Under Bank Indonesia Regulation No. 20/2/PBI/2018 and Customs Law, individuals must declare cash of IDR 100 million or more on departure. Indonesian Rupiah export above IDR 100 million requires Bank Indonesia approval. Foreign currency export above USD 100,000 equivalent requires an authorised dealer (bank) declaration. Violation carries administrative fines of up to IDR 300 million and potential criminal charges under Law No. 8/2010 (Anti-Money Laundering).
