Indonesian Customs (Bea Cukai) allows travelers aged 21 or over to bring 1 litre of alcohol duty-free. Quantities above the allowance face very high excise tax (Cukai Etil Alkohol) and customs duty — effective combined rates can exceed 150% of declared value. Aceh province enforces a complete prohibition on alcohol under provincial Sharia law; do not carry alcohol into Banda Aceh or other Acehnese ports of entry. Always declare quantities above allowance on Form BC 2.2.

Duty-free per person: goods valued up to USD $500 (per person; USD $1,000 per family traveling together). Alcohol: 1L per adult. Tobacco: 200 cigarettes or 25 cigars or 100g of tobacco. Exceeding limits requires payment of import duty, VAT, and excise.
Standard duty-free allowance applies (typically 1L spirits + 1-2L wine + beer). Declare any quantity above; excise + 11% VAT computed at Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DGCE / Bea Cukai) Red Channel. Bring purchase receipts.
