Indonesian Customs (Bea Cukai) allows travelers aged 21 or over to bring 1 litre of alcohol duty-free. Quantities above the allowance face very high excise tax (Cukai Etil Alkohol) and customs duty — effective combined rates can exceed 150% of declared value. Aceh province enforces a complete prohibition on alcohol under provincial Sharia law; do not carry alcohol into Banda Aceh or other Acehnese ports of entry. Always declare quantities above allowance on Form BC 2.2.
