Saudi Arabia strictly prohibits the importation, possession, and consumption of alcohol under Islamic law and the relevant Saudi regulations. There are no duty-free alcohol allowances for any traveller entering Saudi Arabia — including non-Muslims and non-citizens. Alcohol found in luggage at Saudi airports will be confiscated. Under the GCC Common Customs Law, smuggling prohibited goods carries a fine of one to three times the value of the goods, imprisonment of six months to three years, or either; no official alcohol-specific figure is published. Diplomatic and international compound areas have historically had informal access, but this does not constitute legal importation.

Leaving Saudi Arabia with alcohol / spirits
Alcohol is prohibited in Saudi Arabia — possession, consumption, and transport are offences for travellers, so there is no lawful personal export. Duty-free alcohol purchased airside for a destination where it is legal is handled by airport retailers under their own bonded arrangements; travellers should not carry alcohol into or through landside areas. Attempting to carry spirits through security or customs risks confiscation and prosecution.
Alcohol is completely prohibited in Saudi Arabia — no allowance. Tobacco: up to 200 cigarettes exempt; between 200 and 2,400 cigarettes is treated as a personal quantity with duty and tax charged on the whole amount. Personal luggage and gifts without commercial character are exempt up to SAR 3,000 (GCC Common Customs Law, Article 103(B)); keep receipts. Commercial goods follow standard import duty rules.
Do not bring any alcohol into Saudi Arabia. This includes wine in food products such as rum cake or spirits in chocolates if customs considers them above trace quantities.
