Vape / E-Cigarette requires declaration at customs (and in some cases an import permit) when carried by travelers into Laos. Lao Customs Department applies a personal-allowance threshold per item category; quantities above attract duty + the destination's VAT/GST rate (7%) plus, for select categories, an additional excise tax. ASEAN AFTA / RCEP preferential treatment for member-state goods. Cultural-property export rules vary sharply by destination. Travelers should consult Lao Customs Department for the current quantity threshold + documentation requirement before departure.

Leaving Laos with vape / e-cigarette
Laos prohibits the import, sale, and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products by national decision; possession risks confiscation. Because possession itself is unlawful, there is no personal-export pathway: travellers carrying vape devices through the airport risk confiscation and fines at security or customs screening, on departure as well as arrival. Travellers connecting through Laos should keep devices in checked or transit baggage and verify airline policy on lithium batteries (IATA DGR requires cabin carriage where devices are permitted at all).
Travelers aged 18+ may bring 2 L alcohol + 500 cigarettes / 100 g tobacco duty-free. Personal goods up to USD 50 (low limit).
Carry Vape / E-Cigarette in carry-on where applicable (medication / lithium battery / valuables). On arrival, walk the Red Channel and declare on the customs form. Lao Customs Department computes duty + VAT at the published rate. Have the purchase receipt + (for medication) the original prescription available.
