Vape / E-Cigarette requires declaration at customs (and in some cases an import permit) when carried by travelers into Ghana. Ghana Revenue Authority — Customs Division applies a personal-allowance threshold per item category; quantities above attract duty + the destination's VAT/GST rate (12.5%) plus, for select categories, an additional excise tax. AfCFTA tariff-elimination phasing in. ECOWAS / EAC / COMESA / CEMAC sub-regional rules add a layer. Travelers should consult Ghana Revenue Authority — Customs Division for the current quantity threshold + documentation requirement before departure.

Leaving Ghana with vape / e-cigarette
Personal-use vape devices are generally free to export from Ghana. However, many destinations (Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Taiwan, Vietnam, India in commercial quantities) prohibit or heavily restrict vape import — verify destination-side rules. Lithium-battery-powered devices should be carried in cabin baggage per IATA DGR.
Passengers may bring in portable and perfumed spirits not exceeding 375 ml, wine not exceeding 750 ml, and cigarettes, cheroots, cigars, tobacco and snuff not exceeding 0.5 kg in total; items in excess are subject to duties and taxes. General goods figure is from our last editorial verification.
