On the customs side Direction générale des douanes et droits indirects (DGDDI — French Customs) treats it as an ordinary parcel: an accurate CN22/CN23 declaration is required, import VAT/GST at 20% applies above the exemption threshold, plus duty on above-threshold consignments. Same EU rules: €22 VAT exemption removed as of 1 July 2021. Customs duty de minimis €150. IOSS (Import One-Stop Shop) allows overseas sellers to collect VAT at point of sale and remit to tax authorities.
Confirm the carrier accepts perfume before shipping to France — postal refusal is more common than a customs problem. Declare contents accurately on the CN22/CN23; 'gift' mislabelling does not remove import charges and flags the parcel.
