Can I take X out of Y?
Most rules on this site describe arrival: bringing an item into a country. A smaller set covers the opposite direction — what you can legally take out of a country when leaving. Export rules are a distinct regime that almost every customs authority operates separately from import controls.
Departure-rule data (rule.departureRule in our schema) is currently populated on 2187 of 2187 documented traveling rules. Each new rule with a source-backed export / departure requirement populates this index on the next deploy.

How reverse-direction rules work
A country that prohibits import of an item (e.g. cannabis into Singapore) almost always also prohibits its export. But the converse isn't true: plenty of items can be legally imported yet carry export restrictions (cultural property, gold bullion above thresholds, currency, wildlife). We document each direction separately because the penalties, documentation, and decision-makers differ.
