The lithium battery integrated into the device is governed by FAA/IATA Dangerous Goods regulations: batteries must remain in the device or be in carry-on luggage if spare; batteries over 100Wh require airline approval. A standard e-reader battery (approx. 1-3Wh) is well within all limits. No duty applies under CBP's personal exemption rules for items clearly for personal use.
