An official document certifying that plants or plant products are free from regulated pests and comply with the destination's plant-health rules.
A Phytosanitary Certificate (PC) is the document national plant-protection organisations use under the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) to certify that plants, plant products, or other regulated articles (incl. wood packaging) have been inspected and are free from the importing country's quarantine pests. Format and content are standardised under ISPM-12. Typical validity 14-21 days from issue. ePhyto, the IPPC's electronic exchange system, now connects 130+ contracting parties.
