Xanax (alprazolam) is a controlled benzodiazepine subject to personal-export limits when leaving France.

Details

Alprazolam is a Schedule IV controlled substance in the US and equivalent schedules in most other jurisdictions. Personal-use quantities accompanied by the prescription and doctor's letter are generally permitted for export under Code de la santé publique Art. R5132-74; Schengen Convention Art. 75. Above these limits, an Schengen Article 75 certificate is required in advance. Destination-country rules on benzodiazepine import are more restrictive in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and several other jurisdictions — verify independently before travel.
