Taking cash / currency out of Indonesia
Indonesia requires declaration of cash above IDR 100 million (≈USD 6,500) on departure. Rupiah (IDR) export is capped at IDR 100 million without Bank Indonesia approval.
Details
Under Bank Indonesia Regulation No. 20/2/PBI/2018 and Customs Law, individuals must declare cash of IDR 100 million or more on departure. Indonesian Rupiah export above IDR 100 million requires Bank Indonesia approval. Foreign currency export above USD 100,000 equivalent requires an authorised dealer (bank) declaration. Violation carries administrative fines of up to IDR 300 million and potential criminal charges under Law No. 8/2010 (Anti-Money Laundering).
