Standard EU tobacco allowances. Italy is a major tobacco market with prices below Northern European levels. Italian customs enforces limits at airports. EU standard allowances. For arrivals from outside the EU: 4L still wine + 16L beer + 1L spirits (>22% ABV) or 2L fortified wine (17+); 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250g tobacco (17+). Goods: €430 for air/sea travelers, €300 for land travelers. Bringing in more than €10,000 in cash requires a declaration.
Travelers aged 18+ from outside the EU may bring 200 cigarettes / 50 cigars / 250g of tobacco duty-free; intra-EU travelers can carry up to 800 cigarettes for personal use. Declare amounts above to Agenzia delle Dogane via the Red Channel; excise plus 22% IVA applies on the excess.
