Full details

Australia classifies melatonin as a Schedule 3 Pharmacist-Only medicine at doses up to 2 mg per dosage form (from June 2021 TGA decision). Higher-dose melatonin products remain Schedule 4 (Prescription Only). Travelers may bring up to a 3-month supply of Schedule 3 melatonin for personal use in original retail packaging without a permit. Schedule 4 melatonin requires a written prescription from an Australian-registered medical practitioner or an equivalent proof of medical need.

ENFORCEMENT

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Low-dose melatonin (2mg or under) is available from Australian pharmacies without prescription. Carry prescription for higher doses.
