Can I bring CBD Oil into Iceland?
CBD Oil is generally prohibited for travelers entering Iceland.
Required at the destination customs authority
Full details
CBD Oil is prohibited for travelers entering Iceland. Iceland Revenue and Customs (Skatturinn) screens baggage at all ports of entry; the item is seized regardless of quantity, and depending on item class (narcotic / weapon / counterfeit / cultural-heritage), the traveler may face administrative or criminal penalty under the destination's controlled-substances / customs act. EU customs harmonisation and EU Regulation 608/2013 IPR enforcement apply alongside national rules. Personal-import permit pathways exist for medication categories (see Iceland Revenue and Customs (Skatturinn) guidance) but do not apply to most prohibited items.
PENALTIES
- Fine: 50000–5000000 ISK
- Imprisonment up to 144 months
- Criminal penalty
Leaving Iceland with cbd oil
CBD product export is variable across jurisdictions. Hemp-derived CBD with sub-threshold THC (0.2% EU, 0.3% US, 0% Thailand commercial) is generally exportable. Full-spectrum products above threshold THC face controlled-substance treatment under Lög um ávana- og fíkniefni nr. 65/1974; Schengen Convention Art. 75. Carry the manufacturer's Certificate of Analysis (COA).
Do not carry CBD Oil into Iceland. If you arrive with the item by accident, surrender at the Red Channel for seizure-only treatment rather than walking the Green Channel — the latter is treated as deliberate smuggling. Contact Iceland Revenue and Customs (Skatturinn) via https://www.skatturinn.is/english/ for current personal-import policy if your situation is exceptional (medical / diplomatic).
This page covers destination customs rules in Iceland. Whether you can carry cbd oil through security, in carry-on, or in checked baggage depends on airline and screening rules — see air travel rules.
