Egypt classifies all cannabis-derived substances, including cannabidiol (CBD) oil regardless of THC concentration, as narcotic substances under the Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Law No. 182 of 1960 and its subsequent amendments (including Law No. 122/1989 and Law No. 143/2006). The Egyptian Anti-Narcotics General Administration (ANGA) enforces strict import prohibitions. There is no distinction between industrial hemp-derived CBD and cannabis-derived CBD under Egyptian law. Importation, possession, or trafficking carries severe criminal penalties including lengthy imprisonment.
