GOODS ACROSS BORDERS

EORI number

Also known as: Economic Operators Registration and Identification

The unique customs identifier for any business importing into or exporting from the EU or UK.

EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) is the trader-ID number assigned by the customs authority of an EU member state or by HMRC for the UK. Every consignment crossing the EU or UK customs border must reference an EORI on the import or export declaration. EORIs are free to obtain (apply via the national customs portal) but mandatory — declarations without one are rejected. Post-Brexit, EU and GB now operate two separate EORI registries.
