Failure to declare

Carrying undeclared cash above the threshold can result in seizure of funds, fines, and in some jurisdictions criminal prosecution. When in doubt, declare.

  • 02Cash or bearer instruments of QAR 50,000+ (~USD 13,700) must be declared on arrival.
  • 03Alcohol confiscation is routine at Hamad International Airport — do not attempt personal import even in small quantities.
  • 04Qatar participates in the GCC Common Customs Law; imports cleared in another GCC state may move intra-GCC with only Customs Statistical Declaration.
  • 05Al Nadeeb single-window: Qatar's national customs declaration platform handles all import / export filings; commercial importers must register before the first shipment.
  • 06Cash declaration: monetary instruments of QAR 50,000+ (≈USD 13,700) must be declared on arrival or departure on Form CD-1; undeclared amounts above the threshold are subject to administrative seizure and prosecution under AML/CFT Law 20 of 2019.
  • 07Alcohol confiscation: routine at Hamad International — do not attempt personal-import of alcohol even in small / sealed quantities; non-Muslim residents can buy through the Qatar Distribution Company licence system on the ground.
  • 08GCC Common Customs Law: Qatar participates in the GCC Common Customs Law; imports cleared in another GCC state may move intra-GCC with only a Customs Statistical Declaration. Beware GCC residual sanctions on Israeli-origin products though Qatar relaxed direct enforcement after 2020.
  • 09Pork-product seizure: pork and any product containing pork derivatives is prohibited; even gelatin-based confectionery may be seized at random inspection.
