Failure to declare
Carrying undeclared cash above the threshold can result in seizure of funds, fines, and in some jurisdictions criminal prosecution. When in doubt, declare.

- 01Sanctions context: comprehensive US OFAC sanctions plus EU/UK measures restrict commercial trade. Tourists are not the target of secondary sanctions but US persons should be aware of OFAC restrictions on travel transactions.
- 02Dress code: customs officers are within their right to confiscate items violating Islamic dress code (e.g. swimwear, alcohol-themed merchandise).
- 03Currency: physical USD/EUR cash is the practical exchange medium; international cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) do not work due to sanctions.
