Alprazolam is a Schedule IV controlled substance in the US and equivalent schedules in most other jurisdictions. Personal-use quantities accompanied by the prescription and doctor's letter are generally permitted for export under Misuse of Drugs Act 1973; HSA personal-export permit. Above these limits, an HSA personal export permit is required in advance. Destination-country rules on benzodiazepine import are more restrictive in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and several other jurisdictions — verify independently before travel.
