Personal-use personal religious items may be taken out of New Zealand without export formalities. Personal devotional items (prayer beads, icons, amulets, garments) are freely exportable. Antique religious artefacts fall under cultural-property export rules instead — icons and manuscripts over age thresholds may need export permits. Destination-side, a few jurisdictions restrict the import of religious materials in bulk quantities.
