Taking religious items out of Malaysia

Personal-use personal religious items may be taken out of Malaysia without export formalities. Personal devotional items (prayer beads, icons, amulets, garments) are freely exportable. Antique religious artefacts fall under cultural-property export rules instead — icons and manuscripts over age thresholds may need export permits. Destination-side, a few jurisdictions restrict the import of religious materials in bulk quantities.
