Export of Indonesian cultural heritage objects is prohibited under Law 11/2010 on Cultural Heritage. Items over 50 years old classified as Benda Cagar Budaya cannot be permanently exported.

Details

Indonesia's Law 11/2010 on Cultural Heritage (UU Cagar Budaya) prohibits export of objects classified as Benda Cagar Budaya (cultural heritage objects) — items over 50 years old with historical, scientific, educational or cultural significance registered by the Indonesian government. Export for temporary study or scientific purposes may be authorised by the Minister of Education and Culture with a limited-term permit. Penalties: 15 years imprisonment and IDR 1.5 billion fine under Law 11/2010 s. 111.
