Japan places no specific restrictions on personal imports of whey, casein, plant, or mixed protein powder. Commercially packaged supplements for individual use clear the Yakuji Hou (Pharmaceutical Affairs Law) self-use exemption up to a two-month supply without a Yakkan-Shoumei certificate. Keep product in original sealed packaging with legible ingredient list. Any product containing ephedra, yohimbine, DMAA, or other stimulants falls under the Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Law and is seized. Declaration is not required for personal-quantity protein supplements.
