Prescription eyewear in use and spare pairs are personal effects and enter Hungary without declaration, duty, or any customs formality — this applies at every covered border. Carrying a copy of the optical prescription is practical (replacement abroad, pharmacy queries) but is not a customs requirement. Only obviously commercial quantities (a consignment of identical new frames) would engage National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) — Customs Directorate as trade goods requiring declaration.
Leaving Hungary with prescription glasses
Personal-use prescription glasses and spare pairs may be taken out of Hungary without export formalities. Prescription eyewear faces no export controls anywhere. Carrying a copy of the optical prescription is useful for replacement abroad and for destination pharmacies.
