Canada Post restricts standalone lithium batteries
Details
Canada Post prohibits standalone lithium batteries (including power banks and e-bike packs) in international mail under IATA 2025 Dangerous Goods Regulations Packing Instruction 968. Cells or batteries installed in equipment under 100 Wh may be shipped by surface mail only with a Section II lithium battery label and UN3481 marking. Over 100 Wh requires a full dangerous-goods shipper and is not accepted by retail Canada Post. Non-compliant shipments are refused or returned; repeated offences can result in commercial-account suspension.
