Portable solar panels are allowed into Australia; panels with integrated lithium batteries must comply with aviation lithium battery rules.

Details

ABF imposes no specific import restriction on portable solar panels for personal use. Standard foldable panels without batteries may be packed in checked or carry-on baggage. Panels with integrated lithium batteries must comply with CASA/IATA DGR rules: under 100Wh permitted in carry-on or hold; 100-160Wh carry-on only with airline approval; over 160Wh generally prohibited on passenger aircraft. Goods over AUD 900 in value must be declared on arrival. No biosecurity concerns unless the panel contains organic material (unusual).
