Details
China prohibits the import of most meat products in personal luggage. The General Administration of Customs (GACC) enforces strict animal quarantine rules. Fresh, frozen, cured, and dried meats from most countries are prohibited. African Swine Fever concerns have tightened enforcement significantly since 2018. Enforcement in China carries fines from CNY 100,000 to CNY 5,000,000 and imprisonment up to 20 years in aggravated cases under Criminal Law of the PRC Art. 151-155, Art. 347. Leaving China with meat products is a separate question — restricted: Meat products for personal consumption may face export limits from China for animal-health documentation reasons; commercial quantities require an Export Health Certificate.
