PROHIBITEDExport of ivory and CITES Appendix I products from Indonesia is prohibited without KLHK (Ministry of Environment and Forestry) CITES export permit. Law 5/1990 applies.

Indonesia's Law 5/1990 on Conservation of Biological Resources and Ecosystems, and Presidential Decree 43/1978 (CITES implementation), prohibit export of CITES Appendix I species including elephant ivory without KLHK authorisation. Commercial ivory export for non-commercial scientific purposes may be authorised with KLHK permit and LIPI non-detriment finding. Penalties: 5 years imprisonment and IDR 100 million fine under Law 5/1990 s. 40.
