Firearms is prohibited for travelers entering Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Customs screens baggage at all ports of entry; the item is seized regardless of quantity, and depending on item class (narcotic / weapon / counterfeit / cultural-heritage), the traveler may face administrative or criminal penalty under the destination's controlled-substances / customs act. ASEAN AFTA / RCEP preferential treatment for member-state goods. Cultural-property export rules vary sharply by destination. Personal-import permit pathways exist for medication categories (see Sri Lanka Customs guidance) but do not apply to most prohibited items.

Sri Lanka prohibits taking firearms out of the country without an advance export authorisation; licensed hunters and sport shooters are the main exception categories.

Practical advice

Do not carry Firearms into Sri Lanka.
