Firearms is generally prohibited for travelers entering Oman.
Details
Firearms is prohibited for travelers entering Oman. Royal Oman Police — Directorate General of Customs screens baggage at all ports of entry; the item is seized regardless of quantity, and depending on item class (narcotic / weapon / counterfeit / cultural-heritage), the traveler may face administrative or criminal penalty under the destination's controlled-substances / customs act. GCC Common Customs Law applies for GCC member states; national restrictions on alcohol / pork / political-religious content are strictly enforced. Personal-import permit pathways exist for medication categories (see Royal Oman Police — Directorate General of Customs guidance) but do not apply to most prohibited items.
Leaving with this item
Oman prohibits taking firearms out of the country without an advance export authorisation; licensed hunters and sport shooters are the main exception categories.
Practical advice
Do not carry Firearms into Oman. If you arrive with the item by accident, surrender at the Red Channel for seizure-only treatment rather than walking the Green Channel — the latter is treated as deliberate smuggling. Contact Royal Oman Police — Directorate General of Customs via https://www.customs.gov.om/ for current personal-import policy if your situation is exceptional (medical / diplomatic).
