Thailand decriminalised cannabis in 2022 and CBD products with less than 0.2% THC are now legal for adults. However, the regulatory landscape is evolving. Travellers may bring CBD oil into Thailand if it contains less than 0.2% THC and the product is clearly labelled. Products must not be for commercial resale. High-THC cannabis extracts remain controlled narcotics. Rules on re-export are unclear — exiting Thailand with cannabis products (including CBD) can be problematic. Always carry documentation of THC content from the manufacturer.

Transit

Transit not permitted. Despite Thailand's partial cannabis liberalisation, importing CBD into Thai territory — including by transit passengers — remains subject to customs control. Products not cleared for personal use in Thailand are subject to confiscation. No transit exception exists.

Practical advice

Carry a lab-verified COA showing THC below 0.2%. Rules are still settling — check official Thai FDA guidance before travel. Do not attempt to bring any CBD product out of Thailand.
