Hong Kong requires declaration of cash and bearer instruments exceeding HKD 120,000 (approximately USD 15,000) when entering or leaving. This applies to both Hong Kong dollars and foreign currencies. Cross-boundary movements to/from mainland China have additional reporting.

Transit
Transit permitted. Hong Kong Customs cash reporting requirements (HKD 120,000) apply to persons entering Hong Kong. Airside transit passengers who remain in the restricted area without clearing immigration are not subject to Hong Kong's cash declaration. Standard reporting obligations of the final destination country apply.
