Material containing radionuclides above activity concentration limits. Includes industrial radiography sources, medical isotopes, some smoke-detector americium sources below exempt limits (allowed).

Packing / quantity notes

Class 7 does not use packing groups. Material is categorised by activity into UN numbers: excepted package, low-specific activity (LSA), Type A, Type B(U), Type B(M), Type C, plus fissile classifications. Excepted-package consumer items (smoke detectors, watches with tritium illumination, some smoke detectors with Am-241) are generally permitted in passenger baggage; medical-isotope shipments require IATA-trained shipper, the Class 7 trefoil label, and operator notification.
