A licensed agent who files customs entries on behalf of importers and arranges duty payment.
A customs broker is a private agent licensed by the destination customs authority (CBP in the US, HMRC in the UK, ABF in Australia, CBSA in Canada) to file entry declarations, classify goods, value shipments, claim FTA preferences, file Other Government Agency (OGA) declarations, and pay duty on the importer-of-record's behalf under a written Power of Attorney. Brokers do not give legal advice and are not your supplier's representative — the importer of record remains legally liable for the entry's accuracy.
