Customs bond
Also known as: Importer bond, Continuous bond, Single-entry bond
A surety guarantee that duty and tax will be paid on imported goods.
A customs bond is a financial guarantee issued by a surety company to the customs authority, guaranteeing payment of duty, taxes, and penalties on imported goods. US CBP requires a Continuous Bond (most importers) or Single-Entry Bond (occasional). UK and EU operate Deferment Account guarantees. Bond size is typically 10% of estimated annual duty (minimum USD 50,000 US, similar amounts UK). High-value or AD/CVD shipments may require larger bonds. Bond cost is typically 1-3% of the bond amount per year.
