Amsterdam Schiphol Airport
Customs notes
Douane operates green / red lanes on the arrival piers. Netherlands is Schengen, so only non-Schengen arrivals clear customs. Cash ≥€10,000 requires declaration. Personal allowance €430 by air for non-EU arrivals; 200 cigarettes; 1L spirits.
Transit
Schiphol is a 1-terminal airport with concentric pier layout. Non-Schengen-to-non-Schengen transfers are airside. Non-Schengen-to-Schengen requires passport control. All connections funnel through the central Schengen/non-Schengen boundary in Lounge 2/3.
Pre-arrival apps / forms
- Douane Reizen (customs traveler app)
- Schiphol app (gate + wait-time info)
Known quirks
- No inter-terminal transit — Schiphol has only one terminal building
- Pier H/M (non-Schengen) is physically farthest from the Plaza/Schengen piers — allow 20+ minutes walking
- Self-service border control (Privium / iris-scan) discontinued; replaced by standard ePassport gates
